The Phenomena of Heterosis and its utility in silkworm breeding studies are widely popular and the estimates of heterosis over mid parent and better parent values are immensely useful in measuring the genetic potential of any silkworm combination. Studies on heterotic effect on economic traits results into over dominance and linked favourable dominant gene contributes towards higher productivity. The level of genetic diversity between the two parents used for crossing is a feasible predictor of hybrid performance. Hybrids of bivoltine silkworms are essentially preferred to overcome deleterious environmental effect expected in widely varying agro-climatic conditions during different seasons in a year and sericultural farmers often require a silkworm hybrid which can possess inherent buffer potential to mitigate such challenges.
<AbstractLanguage>English</AbstractLanguage> <Keywords>Bombyx mori,temperature,Heterosis,bivoltine breeds,hybrid vigour</Keywords> <URLs>
https://emergentresearch.org/ubijournal-v1copy/journals/abstract.php?article_id=13018&title=HETEROSIS PHENOMENON IN MULBERRY SILKWORM
</URLs> <References> <ReferencesarticleTitle>References</ReferencesarticleTitle> <ReferencesfirstPage>16</ReferencesfirstPage> <ReferenceslastPage>19</ReferenceslastPage> <References/> </References> </Journal> </Article> </ArticleSet>
