Antimicrobial fabrics have gained considerable interest for use in different fields of application. However, most of these antimicrobials have many disadvantages viz., toxicity on non-targets, environment and low durability of finished products etc... The aim of the study was to develop an ecofriendly nano particles which can be used both as antimicrobial and coluring agent. Fungi are known synthesize extraordinary range of pigments as secondary metabolites, and also capable of producing nano particles. Thermomyces sp an yellow pigment producing fungi was used to synthesize silver nanoparticles along with pigment. Synthesized silver nanoparticles was characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR, and TEM Results revealed the size of the silver nanoparticles was in the range of 10-50 nm and nanoparticles dyed fabric exhibited 90 percent antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli , Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylocococus aureus.
